Valerie Sellards

In addition to teaching vinyasa flow yoga, Valerie is one of the BDY Barre instructors. She grew up taking ballet, tap, jazz, and baton in Cross Lanes, WV for 16 years. She continued her love for dance in college where she was the Feature Twirler for Marshall University. After graduation with her bachelor’s degree, Valerie continued to train the Marshall Majorettes and Twirlers as an assistant. Valerie completed her RYT-200 yoga teacher training with Anna Pittman of Breathing Space and completed her RYT-300 Advanced Teacher Training Program at Brown Dog Yoga. 

Josi Boukhemis

Josi is a 2010 graduate of Marshall University with both her undergraduate and graduate work in Elementary and K- Adults Special Education. During her time at Marshall Josi was a cheerleader for 4 years and had a small stand in role in the movie " We are Marshall." After marrying her husband in 2011, They moved to Morgantown, West Virginia. Here she deepened her practice of yoga for 6 years. Then she and her husband moved to Sacramento, California. This is where Josi received her 200 YTT certification and Reiki Level 1 certification. Josi went on to teach corporate yoga classes after her training. "Being that far away from home made me homesick, I needed to find a home and my mat and yoga become my home." Josi states of her time living in California and Nevada.

Through the gift of yoga she practiced and found her "home" during a 2 week business trip to Australia for her husband. In Australia, Josi practiced daily and learned from the staff in Australia as she had just finished her 200 hour YTT and shared this with the staff.
"It is amazing to be able to travel to different parts of the world and still find your home with yoga."

Josi hopes to create the same experience for you as she has encountered throughout her yoga journey. "I hope for each class to feel like a journey for my students, but one that always comes back to the comforts of home"

Miranda Turley

Miranda Mullins is a loving local and Huntington, WV native and 2010 graduate from Marshall University. Miranda took an interest in physical fitness and Brown Dog Yoga after moving back from Colorado in 2012. She is an RYT-200 yoga teacher and is one of Brown Dog’s Barre instructors. Miranda also teaches BDY Cycling and her passion is her students to be the best they can be while having fun and embracing life.

Laura Dixon

Laura Halphen Dixon is a native to Baton Rouge, La. She moved to Huntington, WV in 2012 to help open & operate her husbands local restaurant, Christopher's Eats. She has a Bachelor's Degree in business from SELU & recently graduated Brown Dog Yoga 200 hour yoga teacher training program. Laura began her yoga journey as a child, attending local classes with her mother. Laura enjoys quality time with her friends, family & dog, Jameson. Her mission is to promote non-judgment & non-attachment through her powerful, heartfelt, authentic teaching style and compassion-centered philosophy, while of course, having fun & reaching goals!

Rich Mailloux

Rich Mailloux began practicing yoga in 2010 with his wife, Katrina. He immediately saw changes in his overall fitness, becoming stronger, faster and more flexible. Although a busy physician, he became hooked and embarked upon the yoga teacher training program. Rich currently teaches students at the MU Recreation Center and at BDY, and he embraces an approach which appeals to those who consider themselves “inflexible” in both mind and body. Rich is the Co-Director of the Brown Dog Yoga RYT-200 hour Teacher Training Program. Whether your an avid fitness enthusiast, or want to embrace a different approach to wellness, Rich has your prescription.

Terri Gray

Terri Gray is a native of the tri-state area with a love for travel and adventure. She graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nutrition from Marshall University and completed her internship at Indiana University Medical Center. She has been a Registered Dietitian for over 20 years and has devoted her career to promoting health and wellness in the community through nutrition. Terri completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Brown Dog Yoga in August 2016. She understands that yoga feeds not only the body but the mind and spirit encouraging health and well-being. 

Sarah Hood

Sarah Hood is a former local news reporter/anchor, who graduated from Elon University in 2009. She has always been interested in physical fitness, specifically falling in love with yoga at the young age of 14. Since leaving her news career, Sarah became a registered yoga teacher through the Brown Dog Yoga RYT-200 program.  She is the proud mother of two children and is also a BDY Cycle and BDY Barre Instructor.  Sarah loves sharing the benefits yoga, barre, and cycling with her students. 
This all-levels class will awaken you in mind, body and spirit, with yoga postures and powerful intention. This flow-style class will help you build strength, increase flexibility and find focus.  Moderately-paced and open to everyone, this one-hour class allows students to learn the fundamental yoga postures and principles that create a successful and effective yoga practice.
